- Can I use these fonts commercially?
- Yes. Every licence sold here is for commercial work, and there is no separate personal or business tier. A licence is held by one company with no limit on the number of people or machines inside it.
- What is the difference between the licences?
- One question decides it: does the font file itself leave your hands? Media and documents lets you set the letters in what you make — video, slides, posters, images, documents, packaging, a logo. Web and apps lets you ship the file itself on your websites and inside your apps and games. Everything is both, for less than taking them separately.
- Is there a subscription?
- No. One payment, and the licence never expires. The download link is the only part with a limit: thirty days from purchase and ten downloads.
- Do these fonts support Chinese?
- No. Chinese is the one writing system still to come, because a font that covers most of it looks fine until a character is somebody's name. Cosmic does set Korean, Japanese kana and Thai, alongside every language written in Latin, Greek or Cyrillic.
- What formats do I get?
- TTF and WOFF2 for every face. The TTF installs on macOS, Windows and Linux like any other font; the WOFF2 is the one to serve on a website.
- How were these typefaces drawn?
- By an image model, cell by cell in a grid, and then traced to outlines and spaced by a pipeline that runs on our own machines. Every face was gone over by hand afterwards. Nothing you type or upload on this site is sent to an AI service.
- Do I need an account to buy one?
- No. A name and an email address at checkout is the whole of it, and the files and the licence are sent to that address.
- Is the poster tool free?
- Yes, and it stays free. Your picture is read in your browser and never uploaded. What you make with it can be used in paid work: the faces in it are either ours or published under the SIL Open Font License.
